Gurode was waived by the Bears on Tuesday.|||||||
The veteran did not play down since signing with the Bears on Nov. 27.
The Bears have signed Gurode, hoping to boost a short-handed unit. The Bears announced the signing Tuesday, a day after right guard Lance Louis was placed on injured reserve. He suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in Sunday's win over Minnesota on a blindside hit by the Vikings' Jared Allen and will miss the rest of the season. Left guard Chris Spencer also left the game with a knee injury.|||||||
A five-time Pro Bowl pick, Gurode made five starts at left guard and appeared in 13 games for Baltimore last season after playing with Dallas from 2002 to 2010.
The Baltimore Ravens have agreed to a one-year deal with former Dallas Cowboys Pro Bowl center Andre Gurode. The deal was announced Sunday and will become official when he passes a physical.|||||||
Gurode was signed to play behind six-time Pro Bowl center Matt Birk, who had surgery on his left knee at the beginning of training camp.
Gurode's future with Dallas is up in the air after being placed on the inactive list Saturday night for a preseason game at Minnesota, despite the five-time Pro Bowl pick being healthy during training camp.|||||||
Owner Jerry Jones said before the game on the team's pregame TV show that Gurode's status on the roster is under scrutiny for salary-cap reasons. Coach Jason Garrett said on the show that the Cowboys would evaluate Gurode's situation Sunday.
Gurode has pulled out of the Pro Bowl, giving up his starting position on the NFC team because of a right knee that will require arthroscopic surgery.|||||||
Gurode was elected to his fourth Pro Bowl, but was bothered by the knee much of the second half of the season. The Cowboys said Thursday that Gurode had been replaced on the NFC roster by New Orleans center Jonathan Goodwin, who earned his first Pro Bowl selection in his eight seasons. Goodwin won't play in the Jan. 31 game in Miami if the Saints beat Minnesota in the NFC championship game on Sunday.
