Smith was briefly hospitalized with a concussion following the Cleveland Browns' loss in Cincinnati on Sunday. The Browns (0-2) said Smith is listed as day-to-day.||||||| Smith was injured in the fourth quarter after he caught a short pass over the middle and was struck in the head by the knee of a Bengals tackler. The 30-year-old Smith walked off the field under his own power, but was taken by ambulance to a Cincinnati hospital. His agent, Kevin Robinson, said Smith was checked and released and driven back to Cleveland by car.

The Browns have placed tight end Alex Smith and linebacker Titus Brown on injured reserve, Cleveland's latest casualties in a banged-up season. Smith finished with 14 catches for 131 yards and one touchdown this season.||||||| Smith sustained a "significant" shoulder injury on Sunday against Arizona, but coach Pat Shurmur says the versatile player will not need surgery. Shurmur says Brown will undergo surgery on his injured knee. With just two healthy tight ends on its roster, the team signed free agent tight end Don Gronkowski and promoted linebacker Brian Smith from the practice squad. Both will likely play Saturday at Baltimore.

The Cleveland Browns have signed Smith, who started five games for Philadelphia last season.||||||| Smith has made 132 catches for 1,277 yards and 11 touchdowns in five years in the NFL. He had three receptions for 25 yards last season for the Eagles. A third-round draft pick in 2005 by Tampa Bay, Smith led all rookie tight ends with 41 catches for 367 yards and two TDs.
