STATS, LLC PLAYER NEWS

Posted March 26, 2013
The Raiders signed Barron, who has not played a game since 2010. He sat out the 2011 season with a knee injury and went to training camp with Seattle last summer but did not make the team.||||||| Barron was a first-round pick by St. Louis in 2005. He has played 87 games and has experience at both left and right tackle. Oakland previously re-signed right tackle Khalif Barnes, who can play guard as well as tackle. Jared Veldheer is expected to remain the starter at left tackle.
Posted Aug. 19, 2011
Barron was placed on injured reserve due to a left knee injury.||||||| He was replaced on the roster by defensive back Quincy Butler. Barron is best known for his holding call that wiped out an apparent winning touchdown for Dallas at Washington in the Cowboys' 2010 opener, although in truth Pro Bowl quarterback Tony Romo was also at fault for not getting rid of the ball sooner.
Posted May 10, 2010
The Cowboys and Rams have swapped underachieving former first-round picks Monday, with offensive tackle Alex Barron going to Dallas and linebacker Bobby Carpenter headed for St. Louis.||||||| Barron was the 19th pick of the 2005 draft and has made 74 starts for St. Louis but has been at least a mild disappointment. The Rams drafted Rodger Saffold of Indiana to open the second round of this year's draft and could start him at one tackle opposite Jason Smith, the second overall pick of last year's draft.
Posted Nov. 30, 2005
Barron is scheduled to undergo surgery on Thursday to repair damage to his thumb, an injury suffered in the fourth quarter of Sunday's overtime victory over the Houston Texans. The Rams are unsure how much time the rookie offensive lineman might miss, but his status likely will be updated following the procedure.||||||| Barron was in the Rams lineup in place of Orlando Pace, who was out with a right hip flexor and left hamstring injury.
Posted Aug. 11, 2005
After missing the first two weeks of training camp, Barron finally has signed with the St. Louis Rams, agreeing to a five-year contract. The offensive lineman, who was a finalist for the Outland Trophy following his senior season at Florida State, was the 19th overall pick in the 2005 NFL Draft.||||||| Barron was expected to start for the Rams this season, but after struggling at a mini-camp over the summer, he was dropped to the second team. Now, his holdout has dropped him down to third on the depth chart. He should eventually move his way back to the top, but it won't be by the start of the regular season, according to head coach Mike Martz.
