The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed defensive end Jeff Charleston to fill a roster spot that opened when Adrian Clayborn was placed on injured reserve Wednesday. Clayborn is out for the season after hurting his right knee during last Sunday's 16-10 loss to the Dallas Cowboys.||||||| Coach Greg Schiano said Wednesday that third-year pro Daniel Te'o-Nesheim will move into Clayborn's starting right end position.
Posted April 29, 2011
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are counting on Adrian Clayborn to bolster their sagging pass rush. The former Iowa star was the fifth defensive end selected in the opening round of NFL draft and addresses what Bucs general manager Mark Dominik identified last week as the biggest need for a team that ranked 30th among 32 teams in sacks while going 10-6 and narrowly missing the playoffs last season.||||||| Clayborn is expected to contribute right away on a young defensive line that also features tackle Gerald McCoy, the No. 3 overall pick a year ago. "This guy is a productive player. He creates havoc on the football field. He helps other players around him become productive players," Dominik said.
