Why? Because none of these players has been put under the microscope like they will be over the next four to five months. I am not saying that this class won’t be outstanding. What I am saying is that it is way too early to be making these assessments.
For the most part, analysts have USC’s Sam Darnold, Wyoming’s Josh Allen, UCLA’s Josh Rosen and Washington State's Luke Falk among their top quarterback prospects. They are all good prospects, but as of right now, none of us know if they are great prospects.
The real evaluation period is just beginning and it won’t be over until next spring. In fact, with quarterbacks, much of the most important parts of the evaluation process won’t even begin until after the college season ends. Interviews, board work and workouts have a lot to do with the overall evaluation of a quarterback.
