Ronald Jones

Running Back • Buccaneers

2018 Projections

204 796 5 18 142

Maybe it has something to do with the dreadlocks Jones has worn, but the former USC star has drawn comparisons to Jamaal Charles. After rushing for a combined 2,069 yards and 20 touchdowns in his freshman and sophomore seasons, Jones exploded as a junior, running for 1,550 yards and 19 touchdowns. Tampa is a great landing spot for Jones, as heíll be favored to open the season as the Bucsí lead back.

Jones measured 5-foot-11 and 205 pounds at the NFL scouting combine and might not have the build to handle a heavy load. He ran a disappointing 40-yard-dash time at the combine, clocking in at 4.65 seconds. Although pass catching isnít necessarily a deficiency for him, Jones doesnít have much experience with it. Itís not a slam dunk that Jones will start ahead of Peyton Barber, who played well down the stretch last season.

Bottom Line

Jones is far from a flawless RB prospect, but he was an explosive runner at USC and will have every opportunity to be the lead mail carrier for a Buccaneers offense that has a vacancy for a feature back.
