Kirk is a mature slot receiver prospect who, like Cooper Kupp last year and Sterling Shepard the year before, should be able to quickly translate his talents to the NFL level. The Cardinals had little at receiver behind veteran Larry Fitzgerald, so Kirk should walk right into a fairly decent target share.
Kirk’s college stats were unexceptional, and he’s not especially athletic. Moreover, Kirk is at his best as a slot man, and Fitzgerald is entrenched as the Cardinals’ slot receiver. Fitz is also a target hog, which somewhat limits Kirk’s rookie-year upside.
With Kirk’s skill set, he should be able to hit the ground running in Arizona, though we would have preferred to see him land with a team that had a greater need for a slot receiver.
