Boom
In his first season in Philadelphia, Jeffery posted his highest regular-season TD total since 2014, and he added three more touchdowns in the playoffs. His reception and yardage totals last season were below career norms, but Jeffery played the entire season with a torn rotator cuff after landing on his shoulder awkwardly during training camp. The 6-3, 218-pound Jeffery has a huge frame and one of the stickiest pairs of hands in the league, making him an inviting end-zone target for QB Carson Wentz. And speaking of Wentz, he’ll be back from a torn ACL, which is good news for Jeffery owners, since Wentz is one of the best young QBs in the league.
Bust
Jeffery hasn’t had a 1,000-yard season since 2014. He missed seven games with hamstring and shoulder injuries in 2015, and in 2016 Jeffery served a four-game suspension for violating the league’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs. Jeffery will have to share targets with Zach Ertz, who’s become one of the best pass-catching tight ends in the league, as well as with WRs Nelson Agholor and Mike Wallace.
Bottom Line
Last year’s TD count notwithstanding, Jeffery hasn’t posted high-end numbers since 2014. His talent is undeniable, and he’s playing with a terrific quarterback in Carson Wentz, but Jeffery doesn’t figure to be a true target hog this season, so his fantasy value might be tethered to his TD count.
