Strong Points: Really good athlete for the position -- runs extremely well and has a burst while underway. Effective as a deep receiver. Good hands -- always catches the ball away from his body and adjusts well to make tough grabs. Strong runner after the catch who won't make many miss but will try and run people over. Very willing as a blocker. Good strength for his size and shows some explosiveness and pop.
Weak Points: A bit on the small side for today's tight end and must add a little bulk. Fails to get (and keep) good position as a blocker. Not a precise route runner.
The Way We See It: An underclassman, Nauta is still a bit raw but has as much upside as any tight end in this draft. He is very athletic with good speed, getting open deep and consistently making plays downfield. He still must develop his route running off some cuts and lacks precision. Though he lacks great size and top technique, Nauta is a tenacious blocker who gets after opponents and looks to finish. Nauta is still a developmental prospect, but he has the potential to become a very good "move" tight end in the league. He needs to get a little bigger and stronger, and if he does, he might also be able to play some "Y." He can come in and fill the "move role" early on after going through a small learning curve. Nauta has lot of upside for some NFL offenses.
