Strong Points: Powerful inside runner who consistently moves piles and creates yardage after contact. Good vision to find a seam inside. Runs with good lean. Willing pass blocker. Reliable hands. Durable.
Weak Points: Average long speed. Mostly used in pass game on check downs and swings so route running requires development. Doesn't get good position in pass blocking. Lacks breakaway speed.
The Way We See It: Snell, Kentucky's bell cow the past three years, is a very productive inside runner who doesn't have a lot of speed but nickels and dimes defenses. With his size, strength and power, Snell consistently gets yardage after contact, including tough yards in short-yardage situations. He was used sporadically as a receiver, mostly on swings and check downs and must continue to develop his route running. Snell's positioning in pass pro is inconsistent, and his hand use and anchor are average. Snell projects as a complementary rotational back, not necessarily the main guy. He can help a team win but won't be the reason.
