- BProjectionRound 4
- Hand9 ¾
Strong Points: Very productive season (88 receptions). Very tall with long arms. Climbs the ladder and high points the ball. Deceptive speed. Strong hands. Sharp route runner who breaks down at the top of a route and comes out of a cut. Finds the seams in zone. Good run-after-catch skills.
Weak Points: One-year wonder. Not a very physical receiver. Inconsistent in traffic. Long strider lacking suddenness. Lean frame -- needs to add some bulk and strength. Not a blocker.
The Way We See It: Last season was the only one with any significant production for Wesley, a tall and long but only adequate athlete. He is sneaky fast but lacks a quick burst. For the most part, he releases cleanly and is smooth in and out of his cuts to gain separation. If he's open he will catch the ball, but Wesley doesn't always win in traffic and won't help as a blocker. He will win jump balls and compete after the catch, where he shows quickness and some run instincts. Overall, Wesley can be described as a poor man's Alshon Jeffery. He's taller with similar athleticism but isn't nearly as tough. He needs development time, and if he can't play special teams, he won't produce as a rookie. Wesley's upside is in his size and mismatch potential, but he might be a year away from reaching it.
