Strong Points

Very good size. Impressive athlete with quickness and above-average speed for the position. Great overall body control with flexibility. Outstanding production (286 career receptions, including 81 in 2017). Dominated against Ivy League competition. Very good route runner who knows how to get open and separate. Excellent hands; always catches the ball in his hands and has a large receiving radius. Gets open short and deep. Good blocker. Good runner after the catch.

Weak Points

Secured all of his production against a lower level of comp. Not a burner (but fast enough). Limited route tree at Penn.

The Way We See It

Watson is the 2018 version of Cooper Kupp with a little more size and speed. Although he played in a spread offense with a limited route tree, Watson still knows how to sell his routes and is quick in and out of cuts. Gained easy separation at the Ivy level, and then did it again at both the East-West game and Senior Bowl. He won't be a burner, but with Watson's quickness and route-running ability he will get open at the next level. Should be able to play both inside and outside at the NFL level, and he will play early in his career. His upside is a No. 2 receiver; his floor is a No. 3. Watson is a very good player, just not one many people know well.
