Giants (-6): Carolina covered its last five games last season.  Detroit at Chicago (-6.5): Bears were 6-10 ATS last season and are 19-27-2 in the last three years.  Cleveland at Tampa Bay (-3): Browns were 10-6 ATS in '09 but ...

Ravens, Patriots now favored

Posted Sept. 14, 2010 @ 3:20 p.m.
In the wake of the Ravens' 10-9 win at the Jets Monday night, Baltimore is now a road favorite at Cincinnati Week Two — and the Jets find themselves home underdogs to the Patriots. The early line on Baltimore-Cincinnati was pick 'em, but the Ravens are now favorites of two points. Baltimore, whom many picked to win the AFC North, scored an impressive road win in their opener, while Cincinnati struggled in defeat at New England ...

Chiefs-Browns off the board at some sportsbooks

Posted Sept. 14, 2010 @ 8:01 p.m.
Browns QB Jake Delhomme's ankle injury has ostensibly caused some sportsbooks to take down the Kansas City-Cleveland line. Delhomme, according to a report in The (Cleveland) Plain Dealer by PFW Browns correspondent Tony Grossi, was wearing a walking boot Tuesday. Seneca Wallace will start if Delhomme can't go. Per VegasInsider.com, the game is still up at the Las Vegas Hilton, with the Browns a one-point favorite and the Over-Under 38. Cleveland has ...

Eagles favored by close to a TD

Posted Sept. 19, 2010 @ 11:38 a.m.
We have seen quite the line move in Eagles-Lions. The Eagles, who were favorites of as few as 3½ points early in the week, are favored by 6½ points at the Nevada sportsbooks whose lines are monitored by VegasInsider.com as on Sunday morning.  The Eagles will start QB Michael Vick, who was impressive in relief of Kevin Kolb last week after Kolb suffered a concussion. Shaun Hill gets the call at quarterback for Detroit ...

More fun with Tim Tebow prop bets...

Posted April 26, 2010 @ 6:57 p.m.
From the department of interesting gambles comes this prop bet from Bodog.com: "Who will be the starting QB for the Denver Broncos Week 1 of the 2010 Regular Season?" Kyle Orton: -150 (bet $15 to win $10) Brady Quinn: +125 (bet $10 to win $12.50) Tim Tebow: +5000 (bet $10 to win ... drum roll ... $500) Two major things jump out to me about this prop, which I first saw mentioned via a retweet ...

How about some 2011 NFL draft props?

Posted April 27, 2010 @ 10:29 p.m.
Washington QB Jake Locker is a top-caliber pro prospect and a strong favorite to be the No. 1 pick in the 2011 draft ... and yes, odds have been set on the matter. Bodog.com, which has come up with some very creative prop bets recently, has made Locker a minus-250 favorite to be selected No. 1 in next April's draft. This means bettors will win $10 for every $25 wagered if Locker is the ...

Posted May 07, 2010 @ 2:36 p.m.
The Chargers are the shortest price on the board in NFL division-title odds released by Lucky's Race and Sports Book in Nevada this week. Lucky's has posted San Diego as 1-3 favorites to win the AFC West. By contrast, the Lions (15-1 to win the NFC North) are the longest shot on the line. Here's the list: NFC East Cowboys 13-10 Giants 12-5 Eagles 5-2 Redskins 5-1 NFC North Packers 13-10 Vikings ...

Let it snow?

Posted June 02, 2010 @ 10:01 a.m.
Yes, there are proposition bets available for Super Bowl XLVIII. And, of course, because of all the talk of whether the weather will be a factor in an outdoor Super Bowl in New Jersey, Mother Nature is the focus of two of the three proposition wagers offered by Bodog.com. One of them reads thusly: "Will it Snow during Superbowl XLVIII at the New Meadowlands Stadium in New Jersey?" Bodog.com has set the odds ...

Price is right for Steelers believers

Posted June 07, 2010 @ 8:04 a.m.
The Steelers are no more than one-point home point favorites vs. Atlanta in Week One at Nevada sportsbooks whose lines are monitored by VegasInsider.com, and the line is as low as pick 'em at some books. There are several factors influencing this line, with the question of whom will be the Steelers' starting QB in Week One the biggest. Byron Leftwich looks like the most likely candidate to start in Ben Roethlisberger's absence ...

CFL futures: Alouettes favored to win Grey Cup

Posted June 30, 2010 @ 7:08 p.m.
With the news NFL Network will be airing 14 Canadian Football League games this season, let's take a quick look at one casino chain's odds to win the Grey Cup. Harrah's, which usually books CFL futures and games, has installed the defending-champion Montreal Alouettes as favorites to capture another Grey Cup. Here are the odds, which I picked up during my four-day jaunt to Las Vegas last week, as of June 21 ...

Rushing-title odds: Johnson value as favorite, Turner intriguing longshot

Posted July 03, 2010 @ 5 p.m.
When spending four days in Las Vegas last week, I picked up The Venetian's NFL player props — odds on the winners of the NFL's rushing, passing and receiving yards champions for 2010. Below are The Venetian's rushing-title odds, along with the number of rushing yards each of the players listed accumulated last season. I've also included each player's average rushing yards per game. The running backs are listed in order ...

Can underdog Browns get off to fast start?

Posted July 07, 2010 @ 9:48 p.m.
The Browns are in a tough spot in the AFC North, with the Ravens looking like an AFC-title contender, the Bengals coming off a 10-win season and the Steelers still dangerous. But I won't be shocked if Cleveland gets off to a good start.. Cleveland's early schedule is favorable. The Browns' opener is at Tampa Bay, which was just 1-7 at home last season. In Week Two, they host the rebuilding Chiefs. Back-to-back ...
