I will never forget the pre-draft comments of PFW's resident draft expert, Nolan Nawrocki, prior to the 2007 NFL draft.
Nawrocki said, paraphrased, that Al Davis drafting JaMarcus Russell would set the franchise back five years.
Quite a bold statement at the time for the top pick in the draft.
As you know, in the post-draft afterglow, all 32 teams believe they have landed several future starters and possibly a star or two. Certainly, the Rams feel they have their quarterback for the next generation in Sam Bradford, just as the Raiders felt that way three years ago with Russell.
Nawrocki saw through it. He was exactly right, it turns out. Russell, if you have not heard yet, was released today by the Raiders.
Although the Raiders appeared to land a nice draft hail this year and traded for Jason Campbell, a stabilizing move at QB, we know not to judge these moves too much before the players actually hit the field.
