Wow! That went fast. I had hoped to do a little more blogging last night, but as you can tell if you check out the nonstop, instant-analysis commentaries my PFW compadres and I were asked to crank out, there really wasn't much time for anything else. I was amazed when I looked at my watch after the Saints finished off the first round with the selection of Florida State CB Patrick Robinson and saw that it was only 10 p.m. CT.

Was there a conscious effort to speed up the whole deal because it was on prime time? I doubt that. But it was a fascinating first round, full of big-time twists and turns, and I can hardly wait to see the TV ratings to see how the draft fared against the normal Thursday-night non-cable network offerings. Geez, I didn't even have time to check out what the Cubs were doing, which was probably a good thing.

Anyway, here's my big question for Day Two: Just how big a pickle is Jimmy Clausen in (God, I just can't resist a good pun!). Seriously, though. Do you think he might have opted to skip Radio City Music Hall and hang with his family in Palm Springs for a reason? I'll be stunned if he isn't selected with one of the first 5 picks later today. It was like Brady Quinn all over again, only it was a bigger fall from grace for Clausen. Speaking of Brady, is Tim Tebow immediately ahead of him on the Broncos’ depth chart? Hey, I absolutely love Tebow. He is such a terrific kid, and it's all genuine. But with his delivery, it's going to take a long time before he can get the job done under center at the pro level.

Unless, of course, Josh McDaniels has an entirely new and revolutionary game plan for Tebow up his sleeve. That's it for now, friends. Be back at you later, probably after Clausen is picked by the ... oh, who the hell knows?
