  • Oklahoma OT Trent Williams, who missed the Sooners' regular-season finale with a concussion, is likely to start at center against Stanford in the upcoming Sun Bowl. Williams' move to the left side this year did not go as smoothly as hoped (it was his missed block that led to Sam Bradford's original shoulder injury against BYU), but he still projects as one of the two best senior OT prospects along with Oklahoma State's Russell Okung.
  • No bowl season is complete without controversy. This year the spotlight is on the USC program and junior RB Joe McKnight in particular. He did not accompany the Trojans to San Francisco for the Emerald Bowl, as his status remains in limbo due to an ongoing investigation regarding his alleged use of a Land Rover. Driving the SUV, which does not belong to McKnight, would represent an NCAA violation.
  • California and Utah square off in the Poinsettia Bowl tonight, though the game's biggest attraction won't be on the field, as Golden Bears explosive junior RB Jahvid Best will sit out while recovering from a pair of concussions.
