Charlie Frye will start for Oakland against the Broncos.
Frye has no NFL future to speak of.
Neither, then, does JaMarcus Russell.
It has gotten to this. Russell, whom our Nolan Nawrocki said would set the Raiders back five years when they drafted him, has received the ultimate slam: You're being passed over (again) for a career backup.
His time in Oakland is almost certainly, in effect, done.
Even if he stays on the roster another year.
Russell has shown he will not work hard, not learn a playbook, not put in the time a QB needs. I doubt he ever will.
What team is going to take a real investment in him? Oh, someone will. But they won't put any kind of real money or time into him.
This is not a motivational tactic, I believe. It's a condemnation
Russell is effectively done as a Raider, I believe.
