I vividly remember Vikings offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell telling me a couple of years ago about his wanting to get faster on offense.
I doubt this is what he was envisioning.
After Adrian Peterson was pulled over last week for doing 109 mph in a 55-mph zone, now Bernard Berrian has been the latest to get clocked with a fast time, pulled over doing 104 in a 60.
I always thought Peterson was a step faster.
Perhaps Berrian was a little frustrated at the hamstring that has nagged him all season, and he just wanted to feel fast again. Maybe he was taking that universal advice of needing to "gun it" out on the highway to, like, you know, clean out the engine and whatnot. They say it's good for the car.
Either way, the timing is interesting, and the local police as relishing the fact that they pulled over two star players, citing both and sending warning to the average public that no man is above the law. (Well, maybe if Brett got pulled over in his pickup they'd be a little more forgiving.)
And if this is the Vikings' biggest controversy the rest of the season, methinks Brad Childress would be just fine with that.
