So Brett Favre has said he played with a biceps injury over the last four or five games of his lone season as the Jets' quarterback, and Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum has taken the blame for not putting Favre on the injury report in the final weeks of the 2008 campaign

For the record, the Jets were favored in each of the final five games of the 2008 season — and they failed to cover once. (See the below chart.) And in that span, Favre threw just two TDs and nine interceptions.

ESPN broke the news of a Favre bicep injury on Dec. 30, 2008, two days after the season. He also indicated he was playing in pain after the season finale vs. Miami.

The NFL is investigating the Jets' decision to leave Favre off the injury report. Per this 2007 USA Today story, fines for violating the injury-reporting policy have ranged from $5,000 to $25,000. If the league finds the Jets were in the wrong, I would be stunned if this fine isn't at least on the high end of that spectrum, given how long the injury apparently went unreported.
