The United Football League announced today the signing of 18 more players to its Las Vegas Locomotives franchise, including former NFL standout SS Tony Parrish.
Parrish, who was selected by the Bears in the second round of the 1998 draft, has 30 career interceptions, including nine in 2003 with the 49ers, when he led the league in that category. The 33-year-old Parrish is trying to use the UFL as a steppingstone to get back on an NFL team.
“I want people to notice me,” Parrish told Brad Biggs of the Chicago Sun Times. “I'm playing to get back in the NFL. I'm playing for the love of the game. I've been really ready for more than a year now, I wasn't the same after the broken leg but I'm back now. I still haven't quenched my thirst for football.”
In 2003, Parrish was voted First Team All-Conference by Pro Football Weekly and Pro Football Writers of America. According to Biggs, Parrish will make $35,000 next year with the Locomotives.
