I warned about this kind of thing happening, but I had no idea it would occur this quickly.
Seems as if several reports have surfaced that a substantial portion (I'll avoid saying "most") of the Vikings' locker room actually would prefer having Tarvaris Jackson and Not Brett Favre as the team's QB.
Interesting.
A week ago, I thought the Vikings might trade Jackson. Now I am hearing they really like him. And now this talk. It's all so confusing to me.
Team building and toughness this does not make.
The Pioneer Press' Sean Jensen (also PFW's fine Vikings correspondent — and his team preview for our Kickoff Issue, out Monday, is outstanding by the way) does some actual reporting here, thankfully, and gets a response from head coach Brad Childress on the matter.
Childress' response might not fulfill curious Vikings fans, but they are interesting. He basically is chalking that up to "everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but mine is the one that counts."
I hate to say it like this, but every time Childress goes this route — with the Favre signing being the best example — he sets himself up for failure. And it's not as if he has a long leash with which to work, in my opinion.
What do the Vikings need to do to save Childress' job? Win the division again? Win a playoff game? Two? Let's hear you.
