The United Football League today announced the signing of 31 players to its California Redwoods franchise, including former NFL players RB Obafemi Ayanbadejo, DE Paul Carrington and WR B.J. Sams.
Besides getting to play “Which Ayanbadejo is which?” the highlight of this list really doesn’t have much to do with football, with Denzel Washington’s son, John David Washington, having signed on as a running back for the Redwoods. (Insert movie-name pun here. I couldn’t choose just one.)
Said head coach Dennis Green: “There is a tremendous amount of raw talent on this California squad that just needs some finessing and the opportunity to show their abilities. I am anxious to begin training camp in Casa Grande in September where we can really get back to the basics of playing football and the fundamentals of what it takes to win ballgames.”
I can see it now: Denzel telling John David to get ready; Training Day is coming.
