It's not like me to self-promote (too much), but I wanted to pass along a few bits of recognition for Pro Football Weekly in the past couple of days.
First, congrats to our own Nolan Nawrocki, tireless draft maven (who is getting a well-deserved break) and his excellent mock draft prior to this weekend. Unofficially, with 28 of 32 players correctly predicted in Round One and a ridiculous 15 correct selections matching team and player, Nolan's was the best expert mock draft on the Web.
Clearly, the Mark Sanchez trade threw everyone off and changed the landscape considerably. Let me tell you, folks, doing these mock drafts is not fun. It requires a lot of thought, a lot of reading and a lot of phone calls. And sometimes you have to protect your sources and sit on some information. You want to write something you know but also don't want to field angry calls and emails from the people who told you things in confidence. Nolan, along with a few other people who cover the draft extensively, really gets it.
And also, a hearty congrats to PFW photographer Keith Randolph, who was given the Dave Boss Award of Excellence for his entry "Gridiron Ballet" in the 41st Annual Pro Football Hall of Fame Photo Contest. Keith emailed us and said how happy he was to represent PFW and hopes he has done us proud.
Keith, from all of us, congrats on your tremendous work and for winning this great award. Make sure to check out his picture -- it really is cool, providing a weird optical illusion where it looks like Adrian Peterson is walking not on water, but rather a diving Lions defender. The players make the plays, but the photographers bring them to life in print and on the Web.
We hope you continue to serve us well for years to come, Keith. Well done.
