PK Shane Longest was one of just four kickers invited to the Combine. He was refreshingly unrehearsed while meeting with the media at a small table a few moments ago and had probably the funniest line of the morning discussing his recent physical exam.

Longest is from tiny St. Xavier university, a Catholic school in Chicago with an enrollment of 5,705. It took about a minute before the first question about his last name was tossed out. Longest laughed it off, saying he gets that one a lot, but seemed to be thoroughly enjoying himself.

“It’s hitting me pretty good, but it’s been the time of my life so far, even the medical exams have been fun,” he said. “The medical exams we get are nothing compared to what we just got here. The whole process has been fun; it’s exciting.”

Longest said the longest kick he’s made in a game was 55 yards. The furthest he’s hit in practice was 75 yards.
