Rams RB Jackson misses first team meeting of camp

Rams RB Steven Jackson officially began a holdout Friday, as negotiations on a long-term contract between his agent, Eugene Parker, and the team extended into the opening of training camp, according to various reports.
Jackson was not present at a team meeting Friday morning. He is entering the final year of his rookie contract from 2004.
The Rams are also negotiating with second-round pick WR Donnie Avery, their only draft choice who has yet to sign.
