Niners sign second-round pick Rachal

The Niners announced Wednesday afternoon that they had agreed to contract terms with second-round OL Chilo Rachal. Terms of the deal were undisclosed.
Rachal, the third of the Niners' six draft picks to sign with the team, did not allow a sack in 21 games during his college career at USC as a guard. The 6-4, 315-pounder was moved to tackle during the Niners' OTAs, but he has since switched back to his natural guard position with the Niners having recently signed ex-Raiders OT Barry Sims.
Rachal should get an opportunity to display his wares in training camp with David Baas, the projected starting right guard, possibly missing the entire camp due to a torn pectoral muscle suffered while weightlifting earlier in the offseason. Baas and Rachal are similar in that they rely on strength and bulk to physically overpower their opponents.
