Boldin's positive prognosis overshadows Cardinals' ugly loss

Arizona’s 56-35 loss to the Jets in the Meadowlands Sunday was an undeniable eyesore. But Jets S Eric Smith’s direct full-speed hit on Cardinals WR Anquan Boldin in the game’s final 27 seconds turned the team’s second road loss of the season into an immediate afterthought.

Scary visions of Boldin lying motionless on the Meadowlands turf will linger for a long time, but the news that X-rays revealed no serious injuries to the Cardinals’ star pass catcher ... More>

Cardinals spring first leak

It was a combination of things that led to the Cardinals’ first loss of the season Sunday in Washington, which kept the team from starting the season 3-0 for the first time since 1974.

The offense seemed to lose a lot of its previous zip in the 24-17 defeat, which snapped a string of 10 straight 20-point-plus efforts dating back to last season. The Cardinals were forced to settle for a field goal after having ... More>

Cardinals' offense in a real zone

With every passing game, the Cardinals’ high-powered offensive attack seems to be either establishing or spearheading another milestone. With veteran QB Kurt Warner looking better than ever, the Cardinals completely dominated an overmatched Miami team in Week Two, easily winning 31-10 to move their record to 2-0 to start the season for the first time in 17 years. Warner, who has thrown for more TDs since the midpoint of last season than any other NFL quarterback (25, ... More>

Cardinals still committed to unhappy Boldin

Cardinals star WR Anquan Boldin heated up the team’s training camp Thursday when he angrily told reporters that he had instructed his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, to break off contract negotiations with Cardinals GM Rod Graves. “I don’t want a deal,” said Boldin, who has three years left on a contract extension he signed before the 2005 season that pays him roughly $4 million annually. “People may think I’m being funny or saying that just to say ... Fitzgerald signs new deal with Cardinals

After several months of often-intense negotiations, the Cardinals finally have agreed on a new contract for star WR Larry Fitzgerald that instantly creates badly needed salary-cap room. The four-year deal, which was first announced on Fitzgerald’s Web site, www.larry-fitzgerald.com, is reportedly worth $40 million, with Fitzgerald expected to make a total of $33 million over the first three years. The deal includes a $15 million signing bonus, which Fitzgerald is expected to receive officially before ... More>

Cardinals franchise Dansby

As was widely expected, the Cardinals placed the non-exclusive franchise tag on LB Karlos Dansby on Thursday — one week before the 2008 season’s tag deadline. It’s the first time the Cardinals have used the franchise tag since 2002 (S Kwamie Lassiter). Cardinals GM Rod Graves called the move a “formality” and said he plans on continuing negotiations with Dansby’s agent, Kirk Wood, on a long-term contract. The Cardinals have until July 15 to strike a ... More>
