The Cardinals deserve high marks for their work in the 2003 and ’04 drafts, obtaining Grade-A receivers Anquan Boldin (in ’03) and Larry Fitzgerald (in ’04), with core defenders Darnell Dockett, Karlos Dansby, Gerald Hayes and Calvin Pace and versatile starting O-lineman Reggie Wells also addded to the mix. The ’05 draft has produced disappointing results, with each of those picks failing to live up to expectations. The verdict is still out on the past two drafts. If the light goes on for QB Matt Leinart in his third season the way the Cardinals still think it will, the ’06 draft would be viewed as a success based on his selection alone. First-day bust Buster Davis has tarnished an ’07 crop that so far has been more bountiful at the bottom than the top.
