Brian Griese will get the start at quarterback when the Bucs face the Falcons on Sunday, head coach Jon Gruden announced after practice on Wednesday.
The Bucs’ starter for 13 games last season and in Week One, Jeff Garcia, has been bothered by an ankle injury and Gruden told reporters he wanted to give Garcia an extra week off to recover.
Griese, who made 16 starts for the Bucs during the 2004 and ’05 seasons, started six games for the Bears in ’07, completing 161-of-262 passes (61.5 percent) with 10 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.
