Bucs GM Bruce Allen told reporters on Thursday there were “no negotiations” regarding a trade for Brett Favre and that all the reports suggesting otherwise were “speculation.”

On Wednesday, the Tampa Tribune reported that a deal to send Favre to the Bucs would likely be done in 24 hours and that the chances of it unraveling were remote.

Favre was dealt to the Jets late Wednesday.

“There was never any substantive talk about what (the Packers) would take to trade him,” Allen told reporters. “All of that was speculation.”

Allen denied that he made an offer to the Packers and described Tampa’s interest as minor curiosity.
