Bucs DE White contemplating leaving team after season
By PFW staff
July 7, 2008
Though he’s unhappy with the state of contract negotiations and his agent was said to be aggressively pursuing a trade before this year’s draft, Bucs DE Greg White is planning on playing out his one-year deal, according to a report from Jim Trotter on ESPN’s First Take this morning. Trotter said if no new and improved deal is in place by the time White becomes a free agent this winter, he will not play for the Bucs in 2009.
White, who led the Bucs in sacks (eight) and forced seven fumbles in his first full NFL season, received a one-year, $370,000 offer as an exclusive rights free agent. As an ERFA, White has little leverage in the contract talks since he can either play for the Bucs or not at all.
