Panthers suspend Smith for first two regular-season games

The Panthers have suspended WR Steve Smith for the first two games of the regular season, head coach John Fox announced Saturday.
Smith, a three-time Pro Bowler, is being punished for punching his teammate, CB Ken Lucas, during Friday’s training camp practice. Both players were standing on the sideline when the fight broke out.
Fox said Lucas suffered a broken nose in the incident and that Smith will be allowed to return to camp on Monday and participate in preseason games.
