The Panthers are about as shrewd as they come at finding prospects on defense, but their inability to find offensive talent at the skill positions has left them lacking a consistent scoring weapon other than WR Steve Smith. The last draft almost perfectly exemplified Carolina’s consistent pattern of finding defensive playmakers and offensive duds. LB Jon Beason was the squad’s first choice, and he’s a Rookie of the Year candidate. The next selection, WR Dwayne Jarrett, has looked lost.
