The Falcons announced they have waived rookie LB Robert James.

James, a fifth-round pick from Arizona State, suffered an unspecified injury, which led to his release.

He had durability concerns coming out of college, after a concussion kept him out of the final five games of the 2006 season and a car accident left him in the hospital for 2½ weeks in the spring of ’07.

James recovered in time to have a breakthrough ’07 season and earned All-America and All-Pac-10 honors as a senior, which enhanced his draft stock.
