The Falcons signed second-round pick LB Curtis Lofton to a four-year deal Friday, the team announced. Financial terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Lofton, an Oklahoma product, is expected to compete for the starting job at middle linebacker in training camp.
In Pro Football Weekly’s 2008 Draft Preview book, PFW draft analyst Nolan Nawrocki wrote that Lofton “personifies what it means to be a football player — not an athlete in pads — and simply gets the job done. He could step in from Day One and make an impact.”
