A report in the Minneapolis Star Tribune Friday morning said that Vikings owner Zygi Wilf declined to speak with Ed Roski Jr., a Los Angeles billionaire regarding the possibility of moving the Minnesota franchise to the nation's second-largest city.
Roski, a real estate developer who has unveiled a plan to build a stadium and entertainment complex on a 600-acre piece of property in Los Angeles, listed the Vikings as one of seven NFL teams (Bills, Jaguars, Saints, Raiders, Chargers, 49ers were the others) that might move to Los Angeles.
However, Vikings vice president of public affairs and stadium development Lester Bagley told the Star Tribune that the Vikes "have not had a meeting or discussion with Roski. All of our updates have come through the league. Our intention is to resolve the issue in Minnesota, but clearly they are out proactively seeking a team and they are the ones that listed the seven teams."
The Vikings still hope to build a new football-only stadium on the current site of the Metrodome. The team's lease to play in the Metrodome expires after the 2011 season.
