An MRI revealed that Vikings QB Tarvaris Jackson has a sprained MCL, but the injury probably won’t cause him to miss any regular-season games. Instead, the team is likely to rest Jackson for the final two preseason contests.
Jackson suffered the injury early in the Vikings’ second preseason game Saturday night against the Ravens, and the medical staff looked at him extensively after he left the game for good. He reportedly was injured after being tackled by Ravens LB Ray Lewis as Jackson was scrambling.
So far in the preseason, Jackson has looked sharp, completing 15-of-22 passes for 200 yards, including 7-of-11 passing for 82 yards and a touchdown against the Ravens.
Backing up Jackson is Gus Frerotte, who likely will start the next preseason game and would replace Jackson should the injury force him to miss any regular-season time.
