Packers complete rookie signings
By PFW staff
July 27, 2008
No doubt consumed by the ongoing Brett Favre saga, Packers GM Ted Thompson still somehow found time Sunday to officially lock up the team's final three unsigned rookies — second-round picks Jordy Nelson, Brian Brohm and Patrick Lee.
Nelson, the 36th overall pick in the 2008 draft out of Kansas State, is expected to immediately make his presence felt in a deep and talented WR corps.
Louisville product Brohm, who was selected 20 spots after Nelson, is projected as the primary backup to starting QB Aaron Rodgers. Team insiders indicate that Packers coaches have been extremely impressed with how quickly Brohm appears to be picking up the team's offense.
Lee, an Auburn graduate selected 60th overall, could be a strong candidate to be the team's No. 3 cornerback behind starters Charles Woodson and Al Harris.
Terms of the deals were undisclosed.
