Although the future of Brett Favre has taken up most of their time as of late, the Packers managed to find some time Wednesday to start taking care of business on the rookie contract front, signing their first three rookie players: fifth-round OT Breno Giacomini and seventh-rounders QB Matt Flynn and WR Brett Swain.
The lengths and terms of the deals were undisclosed.
Giacomini, a 6-7, 311-pounder from Louisville, started all 12 games at right tackle in 2007 for the nation's sixth-ranked offense and is expected to be a backup at right tackle for the Packers.
The 6-2, 222-pound Flynn capped his collegiate career by leading LSU to the 2007 BCS National Championship. He is projected as the No. 3 QB in Green Bay behind Aaron Rodgers and fellow rookie Brian Brohm, provided Favre doesn't return to the mix.
The 6-0, 203-pound Swain led his alma mater, San Diego State, with 58 catches for 973 yards and five TDs in '07. The Packers lined Swain up as a slot receiver in the team's OTAs.
