It wasn't the first question he was asked — thanks to the Brett Favre saga — but Packers RB Ryan Grant made it perfectly clear on the ESPN's "Mike and Mike" radio show Monday morning that he expected to be present at Green Bay's training camp later this week, despite his uncertain contract status.
"I plan on being there," said Grant, who won't be able to attend traning camp unless he at least signs a one-year, $370,000 tender offer as an exclusive-rights free agent. "Everything is progressing well, and I'm ready to go."
With Favre's growing rift with the Packers dominating the Green Bay scene, news regarding Grant's ongoing talks with the team for a long-term contract has been hard to come by. Grant had a breakout campaign last season, but he has only been the Packers' featured back for half a season.
Grant also said that "75 percent" of the questions he is asked these days are about Favre and agreed that some type of closure in the QB's sticky situation should occur in the not-too-distant future. He also spoke highly of Packers QB Aaron Rodgers, whom he expects to be the team's starting QB this season until further notice.
"He's a good leader with a chip on his shoulder," Grant said of Rodgers. "As of now, he's our quarterback."
