Add the Lions to the list of teams potentially interested in for-sale QB Chris Simms.
The Tampa Tribune reports that the Buccaneers, who hold Simms’ rights but appear willing and likely to part with him, have three potential suitors for his services — the Cowboys, Bears and Lions.
The Lions currently have starter Jon Kitna, Dan Orlovsky and Drew Stanton as the only quarterbacks on the roster.
Simms has thrown for 3,087 yards, 12 TDs and 17 interceptions in 19 career games (15 starts). He last took a snap in Week Three of the 2006 season, when he suffered a ruptured spleen.
The relationship between Simms and head coach Jon Gruden has suffered, according to reports. Sources have told PFW that GM Bruce Allen is asking for a first-day pick for Simms, but at that price tag few teams might be interested.
