It appears the Bears might be looking for more RB insurance behind rookie Matt Forté after all. The Chicago Tribune reported that ex-Lions RB Kevin Jones was scheduled to meet with the Bears and take a physical at Halas Hall some time Tuesday.
Sources told the Tribune that Jones, a former first-round draft pick, would be willing to agree to a one-year deal. The meeting with Jones comes exactly one week before the Bears' training camp opens in Bourbonnais, Ill.
There are also rumors circulating that the Bears might be interested in the services of disgruntled Buccaneers QB Chris Simms to be their No. 3 quarterback behind Rex Grossman and Kyle Orton, who will enter training camp on equal footing in a battle for the starting QB job. The Tampa Tribune, without naming sources, said both the Bears and Lions have expressed interest in Simms.
