Redskins LB H.B. Blades, who is considered a potentially key reserve, could miss as much as four weeks after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery on Tuesday.
Blades could return for the end of training camp after tearing the meniscus in his left knee. He became the fifth Redskins player to have surgery since the report date of July 20.
He is battling with Khary Campbell, a key special teamer, for the top LB reserve spot.
Also on the shelf on defense are DT Anthony Montgomery, a 2007 starter who could lose his job to Kedric Golston, and LB Rian Wallace, who is competing for a starting job. Both underwent hand surgeries.
