Redskins’ Daniels to have MRI on knee

Redskins DE Phillip Daniels, one of the steadiest players on a veteran defensive line, is undergoing an MRI on his hyperextended left knee, which he suffered in the team’s first training-camp practice.
The injury happened on the first play of seven-on-seven drills. Although head coach Jim Zorn remained hopeful Daniels’ injury was only a sprain, it could turn out to be a significant blow.
Daniels was carted off the field with a towel covering his head, and reports suggest he looked to be in significant pain. But teammates said they felt better after talking to Daniels as he was being taken off the field.
The Redskins did not add a significant defensive lineman during the offseason, so losing Daniels — who plays both end and tackle — would be a big setback.
