Eagles head coach Andy Reid said that RB Brian Westbrook’s right ankle injury falls under the “day to day” category and is not considered serious, following an MRI evaluation on Monday.
Westbrook’s status is unknown for the game at Chicago on Sunday night.
“He was on crutches yesterday, and he’s limping around today without the crutches, so I guess that’s a positive,” Reid said at his Monday press conference. “We’ll see how he does. It’s literally a day-to-day situation, and I’m sure it’ll be a race to get him ready for Sunday.”
Reid confirmed that the MRI showed no torn ligaments. An X-ray taken during the game showed no broken bones.
Westbrook, who has scored five touchdowns with 161 yards rushing and 46 yards receiving, left the game in the first quarter against the Steelers after appearing to step on a teammate. He was taken out of the game and didn’t return, being replaced by Correll Buckhalter and Lorenzo Booker.
QB Donovan McNabb also left the game after a chest contusion, but he returned to action and helped the Eagles win the game. McNabb also had an MRI on Monday, which also was negative. McNabb will play Sunday night in his hometown of Chicago.
