According to multiple sources, the Chiefs granted S Greg Wesley his release Thursday.

Wesley, a starter in Kansas City since 2000, became disgruntled last season after he was replaced in the starting lineup. The Chiefs made efforts to trade him but couldn't work out a deal, leaving them little choice but to release the veteran safety.

Wesley's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, says that other teams are interested in his client and thinks Wesley will have a new home before training camps get underway next week.

Wesley had spent his entire eight-year career in K.C., compiling 29 interceptions and six sacks.

Third-year players Jarrad Page and Bernard Pollard will remain the Chiefs' starting safeties.
