The field of competitors to become the Broncos’ starting running back in Week One was trimmed on Wednesday.
Rookie RB Ryan Torain suffered a dislocated left elbow and ligament damage during a 9-on-7 drill Wednesday morning, an MRI revealed, and he's expected to miss three months, according to reports. He will undgergo surgery Friday night.
Torain, a fifth-round pick from Arizona State, had performed well in the first week of camp, but the injury limits his chance of taking on a major role in the backfield before midseason.
With Torain out, Selvin Young inches closer to nailing down the top spot on the depth chart. Andre Hall and Michael Pittman are also competing for carries.
