Jaguars reach deal with fifth-round pick Williams; two remain unsigned

The Jaguars agreed to a deal with fifth-round CB Trae Williams on Thursday. Williams is the third Jaguars draftee to sign, joining fellow fifth-rounder Thomas Williams and seventh-rounder Chauncey Washington. That leaves only top pick Derrick Harvey and second-round selection Quentin Groves unsigned among the squad's draftees.
Williams enjoyed a standout career at South Florida, leaving the program as the school's all-time leader in interceptions, with 16. Size (5-9, 193) and speed limitations prevented him from being drafted higher, but in Pro Football Weekly's 2008 Draft Preview, PFW draft analyst Nolan Nawrocki writes that Williams “finished the season very strong and has the quick feet, fluid hips and natural cover skills to be effective in a zone scheme.”
