The Texans released RB Mike Bell on Friday after signing OT Torrin Tucker to bolster their O-line depth. Bell has been bothered by a hamstring injury since signing with the Texans, and Houston needed another tackle after Ephraim Salaam underwent arthroscopic knee surgery on Friday. Salaam is expected to be ready for the start of the season.

"We don’t think he was physically quite with the rest of the team," Texans head coach Gary Kubiak said of Bell. "You know, he had a little tweak; he has had it before. We worked him back, and probably could have went back on the field this morning, but because of our situation having to sign the tackle yesterday, we had to make a move, and the most obvious place for us right now with (RB) Chris Brown (back at practice), is to let a back go."

The Texans play the Broncos on Saturday in the preseason opener for both clubs.
