In an effort to meet the 53-man roster limit, the Texans released 21 players on Friday. They have one more move to make before Saturday's deadline.
The most notable player let go was Rosevelt Colvin, a career linebacker whom the Texans signed this offseason and were attempting to convert to a defensive end. Colvin, who has 52.5 sacks in his nine seasons, had difficulty picking up the new position, leading to his release.
The other players cut on Friday were RBs Marcel Shipp and Darius Walker; OT Torrin Tucker; CBs Jamar Fletcher, Derrick Roberson and Dexter Wynn; QBs Shane Boyd and Alex Brink; FB John Abbate; LBs Kevin Coley and Ben Moffitt; S Glenn Earl; C Greg Eslinger; WRs Darnell Jenkins, LeRon McCoy and Mark Simmons; TE Ryan Krause; DTs Gabe Long and Anthony Maddox; and DE Jesse Nading.
